Sonus Brass Theater, a DCI SoundSport and Small Drum Corps Association (SDCA) performance ensemble, from Prince William County, Virginia is proud to announce its 2017 production: Fantasia Española.
The program opens with “Camino Real”, an exciting Latin-inspired theme written specifically for the marching field by Ken Dye.
In the ballad, Sonus will explore the sweeping melody of “Zorro’s Theme” by James Horner from the motion picture, The Mask of Zorro.
The program closes with the high-energy “Fire Dance” by Allen Vizzutti & Jeff Tyzik.
Fantasia Española, translated in English as “Spanish Fantasy,” reflects the passion of high-octane Latin music. Audience members can expect a healthy dose of brass power and compelling percussion as the corps members bring to life the Spanish-Latin influenced sounds of the Paso Doble and Flamenco dance music of Old and New Spain.
In 2017, Sonus will perform at several DCI SoundSport events culminating with a third appearance at SoundSport Indianapolis at the DCI World Championships. For a second consecutive year, Sonus will compete at SDCA shows in Pennsylvania. Sonus Brass Theater is a proud member of the Prince William County Arts Council.
Sonus Brass Theater is under the direction of Sean Peck. Brass arrangements are by Mike Jones and percussion arrangements are by Matt Halligan.
